Free knitting clothing

My friend Jane just sent me this pattern from Knitting magazine by Marie Wallin.

She sent it in a gorgeous envelope she had made from a Country Living magazine cover complete with three masking tape samples on the back! Imagine only finding colourful made envelopes on your mat (see previous how to post) instead of boring white ones.

As Jane says this uses the 'free knitting' technique of knitting and then picking up stitches from the side of your piece to continue. It is all made in one piece. Jane came to one of my 'free knitting' workshops where we played with colour and texture knitting up different yarns and other textiles every which way for artistic effect.
